Freechoice WA has always been supportive of small business in Western Australia.
One of the major supports to small business in WA is the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC).
The primary role of the SBDC is to encourage, promote and assist in the establishment, growth and development of small business in Western Australia. This is achieved by providing education, advice and guidance to small business owners.
Please find below an article from David Eaton the Small Business Commissioner.
The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) in review
Since 1984, the SBDC has been providing practical, tailored support to small business owners, at all stages of their business development. With 94 per cent of clients saying they would use our services again, it is clear we are providing essential support to small business – a key sector in an increasingly diversified economy.
A large number of our clients come to us for guidance and support in the early stages of starting their business, and we have a broad range of services designed specifically for this demographic. This includes the more than 150 workshops and information sessions we delivered during 2015-16.
We have produced a summarised version of our 2015-16 Annual Report. The review provides a snapshot of our services, some of which may be of assistance to you, your constituents, members and associates. From confidential business advice to our non-litigious dispute resolution service and specialist advisory service for commercial tenancy enquiries, we cover the full range of small business needs; most of our services are provided free of charge.
It’s estimated there are currently more than 214,000 small businesses in the State, providing more than half of all private sector employment. A strong buoyant economy needs a strong, healthy small business sector, a key focus of the SBDC.
We hope you’ll find our Annual Report summary of interest and we look forward to continuing to support the WA small business community.
